Perfecting Sweet Pointed Peppers
01 January 2017
For many years the pepper category has been very colourful. In terms of taste, however, ordinary Bell Peppers leave much to be desire.
With the introduction of the Sweet Pointed Pepper, a completely new dimension has been added to the pepper category.
Sweet Pointed Peppers are sweeter than the ordinary peppers, and their thinner skin makes them easier to digest. They also have a longer shelf life, contributing to greater consumer satisfaction. These qualities have led to a huge development in consumption of Sweet Pointed Peppers.
When we assess these in the lab we are looking for firm peppers with smooth and unblemished skin, so they can be eaten raw or cooked.
Sweet Pointed Peppers are great in a salad or as a snack, and they can be roasted, grilled, barbecued or stir-fried. A more substantial dish can be prepared by splitting the peppers in half and stuffing them with mozzarella and olives or couscous before roasting.
At Innovative Fresh we monitor fresh produce weekly, testing for many aspects of quality such as Brix, ripeness, appearance and shelf life from the consumer’s perspective. Let us help you to fine-tune your pepper category, in order to give the consumer the best possible eating experience. For more information email firstname.lastname@example.org.
